The skippers of these fishing vessels have all passed an MCA Oral Exam, they received a Certificate of Competency, Now its up to them to make sure their vessels are safe by constantly doing a risk assessment to protect their crew, The skipper and the crews of these vessel battle against the elements to put fish onto your table in some of the most atrocious weathers anywhere in the world, they catch the fish and hope to catch a good market with prices high, some times this does not happen and I've seen crews going home with no pay for 14 days work, yet they still go back hoping to get that big haul, the sea is in their blood.
